TAY FINS

Tay Fins is a science art collaboration between visual artist Fanny Lam Christie and the Sea Mammal Research Unit.

Connection to Science through Art

This bronze sculpture embodies three bottlenose dolphins seen regularly in the Tay Estuary. By incorporating research findings into the design we aim to engage the public in local marine wildlife and the ongoing studies dedicated to inform the conservation of local dolphins.

Individual Dolphins

The sculpture dolphins bear the markings of animals known to SMRU. Follow the link to learn more about these individuals

Dolphin Sounds

On the stones surrounding the sculpture you will see spectrograms, which are visual representations of dolphins vocalizations recorded in the Tay area. Follow the link to learn about their sounds and listen in!

Info Panel

We worked with illustrator Jack Cowley to create an interactive information panel to accompany the Sculpture.
